I’m back!

Sorry I have been away for so long but I did my return to nursing course and have started working as a nurse again. So have been quite busy but now life is settling down again I can come back to writing this blog.

So what creating have I done since I last spoke. I finally finished my summer top (Lyra Top by West Yorkshire Spinners) but I struggled to get the lace yoke to work for me so I altered the yoke to a plain stocking stitch. This is the first time I have altered a pattern and it took me a few months before I have the inspiration of how to do it. My husband helped me with the maths. It was also my first time knitting a top in the round, it was a bottom up construction. I quiet enjoyed only having to knit and not purl. Not that I’m adverse to purling but it had some good mindless knitting hours where I could just watch a program and autopilot knit.

I have made a start on the Beetle Magic jumper by Katie Green. I am really enjoying the colour work yoke and once again this is knit in the round but top down this time. Seeing the beetles take shape is making me excited for each row. Katie has also written the pattern for children and my son has asked for one. So guess what I will be making when I finish this one.

Someone that I used to work with has requested two cardigans for her twins. I am knitting them up in white then going to be trying to put some embroidery on the backs. I have tried some embroidery in the past but not much. I’m quite pleased with the challenge and have an idea how I’m going to do this. fingers crossed it works.

I have also tried dying some yarn which has been fun. I am keen to dye some yarn and make a garment out of the self dyed yarn. Will have to see what I might try and what colour. I have only done one colour but might try giving variegated a go. Lets seen how brave I am.

Sewing wise I have sewn two summer crop trousers (I have left the pattern at my mums so will try and find that for you). One in plain blue and one in bright green pattern. I love the trousers and pretty chuffed I managed to put some pockets into the green pair. I am thinking about making them with some cord material for winter.

That’s it for the catch up and as my son goes back to school next week I will have some more time to create things.
